Cloverdale Performing Arts Center seeks Artistic/Managing Director

The Cloverdale Performing Arts Center in northern Sonoma County is searching for a new Artistic/Managing Director. Yavé Guzmán, their previous AD, moved on to other opportunities after being released late last year when the COVID-19 pandemic forced the Center’s transition to an all-volunteer organization and declined to return.

The position was announced in a post on their Facebook page.

“CPAC is unique as it is a community theatre that thrives on community involvement, volunteers, and interns in order to make the magic that you see onstage. The Artistic/Managing Director works closely with the board of directors and those volunteers to oversee all the productions and events at the theatre including, but not limited to: creating a vision for each season, creating the calendar, recommending plays for the season, managing the productions, assisting with organization of community engagements, securing volunteers to fulfill production teams, assisting with fundraising events, representing the theatre at community functions, and maintaining production budgets.”

They are seeking someone with a background in theatre and experience working with/for a non-profit who has general knowledge of both the technical and managerial aspects of theatre.

Their ideal candidate would have: a bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four-year college or university with an emphasis on stage production/theatrical management, or two to four years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The position is currently part-time (20 – 30 hours, no benefits) with the potential of going full-time once theatres re-open. No salary range is listed, as they state the fee is “to be negotiated”.

Their post concludes with the following message:

“CPAC is a safe space, and a theatre that welcomes all gender identities, ethnicities, race, color, creed, and religions. Our Artistic/Managing Director must embody a sense of decorum, acceptance, and tolerance to all our guests, artists, and volunteers as they represent the theatre.”

Interested parties are asked to email a cover letter and resume to: amy@cloverdaleperformingarts.com
