Sebastopol’s Main Stage West has announced the cancellation of the remainder of their 2019/2020 season. In an email released today, outgoing Artistic Director Elizabeth Craven had this to say:
“As our country and community continue to face the COVID-19 crisis, we here at MAIN STAGE WEST are beginning to turn our emergency response efforts into a plan for the future.
Both performances of Accidental Death of an Anarchist and A Doll’s House, Part 2 have been cancelled. However, we hope to be able to bring these engaging plays to you at a later date. Tickets for cancelled performances can be converted to MSW credit for future use.

There are various options for how you can use the amount of your cancelled tickets:
- Donate the face value of your ticket, due to the Covid-19 crisis, to Main Stage West to keep the lights on while we await the ‘all clear’ from health officials for us to return. We would be grateful!
- Receive a “Gift Certificate” for the face value of your ticket/s to use during the 2020-2021 subscription season.
- Receive a full refund for your tickets.
Please email Director of Patron Services, Susan Larson, at Susan@MainStageWest.com
In your Email, please indicate “Donation”, “Gift Certificate” or “Refund” in the subject line. Whatever you decide, know you are a valued patron of Main Stage West, and we look forward to seeing you next season!
Please stay tuned for the announcement of our 2020/2021 Shows!
In these confusing and scary times, we are most grateful for our supportive artistic community. Be safe and be well. We hope to see you soon.”
Craven went on to officially announce a change in company leadership:
“As many of you have already heard, 2020-2021 begins a new era for Main Stage West. Effective immediately we begin the transition of handing over the artistic and administrative duties of the theater to Keith Baker and Ivy Rose Miller. Keith is well known to most of you as a fine actor/director and as MSW’s first Producing Artistic Director (2011-2013) just before his exit into fatherhood and a career in teaching. He returns to us with two beautiful sons, renewed energy and vital artistic vision. In addition to being a familiar face on the MSW stage, Ivy Rose Miller comes to us as an experienced business woman, having spent the last five years as a manager and accountant for a local Sebastopol retail business. It is my opinion that Ivy and Keith possess just the right combination of skills to take us into the roaring 2020s. We feel so lucky to have them aboard.

As the official Incoming Artistic and Managing Directors, Keith and Ivy will be responsible for expediting the new season, public relations and further administrative operations of the theater. As the Outgoing Artistic Director and Managing Director, John and I will be gathering up loose ends from the current season, writing to our professional associations, vendors and fellow theater contacts about our impending exit, and consulting with Keith and Ivy about passing along system infrastructure. We anticipate our part of this transition period will be complete on or before June 1.
In parting, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and patronage during my ten years as Artistic Director of Main Stage West. It has been an honor and a privilege to lead this fine group of actors, directors, designers and staff. John and I will remain on the board of trustees and plan to be an ongoing part of the future of the theater as both artists and advisors. So this is not good bye but rather au revoir, until we meet again in our little jewel box of a space in better times.
In Art, Community and Gratitude,
Beth”
