On Friday and Saturday, July 13 and 14, Novato Theater Company will host the popular Sonoma County-based touring show Cash & King, featuring singer-actor Steven Kent and a band of local musicians putting a highly personal spin on the traditional tribute show. During the two-act production – which has been playing to sold-out houses in California and Oregon this summer – Kent and company perform songs by Johnny Cash and Elvis Preseley, as Kent tells the stories of the musical legends’ lives, and his own real-life encounters with Presley and Cash.
The band features local actor Anthony Martinez (recently seen in 6th Street Playhouse’s ‘La Cage Aux Folles’ and Spreckels Theatre Company’s ‘1776’) on keyboards.
The Novato shows start at 8 p.m. at Novato Theater Company, 5420 Nave Dr., Novato. Tickets are $28 and are available at NovatoTheaterCompany.org.
This is a fantastic show, one of the best we have seen ever, especially if you are a Johnny Cash or Elvis Presley fan. We are so fortunate to have these talented musicians living here in the North Bay. Steven Kent is amazing! We have seen several of the members in local North Bay theater productions, Steven Kent at Spreckels in The Light In The Piazza, Little Mermaid, 1776, Titanic and the Raven Players musical Hello Dolly after a 30+ year hiatus from theater. The charming vocalist Cindy Brillhart-True at 6th Street and Spreckels (La Cage Aux Folles, Titanic), Anthony Martinez at Spreckels, 6th Street, Napa – (Sister Act, La Cage Aux Folles, Titanic), the local Bass player Andy Bergman, lead guitar Barry Hopkins formerly with the 70-80’s group Mistress and local drummer Rick Cutler from Sebastapol. Love this show and our North Bay Talent!
