Sonoma County theatre is taking a beating at the hands of the continuing COVID pandemic. The Cloverdale Performing Arts Center/Raven Players presentation of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) was cancelled before it opened and the Left Edge Theatre run of Fun Home was cut short. Both had cast members come down with COVID.
Now the Spreckels Theatre Company in Rohnert Park has announced the cancellation of this weekend’s performances of The Music Man as has Santa Rosa’s 6th Street Playhouse with their production of Cabaret, also because of COVID outbreaks inn the company.
Spreckels Theatre Company Artistic Director Sheri Lee Miller released the following statement:
“Due to an abundance of caution following COVID-19 exposures within the cast and crew of Spreckels
Theatre Company’s critically acclaimed production of Meredith Willson’s “The Music Man,” which began
its run at Spreckels Performing Arts Center in Rohnert Park on Sept. 2, all three of this weekend’s
performances have been canceled. The final weekend’s four shows, scheduled for Thursday September
29 through Sunday, October 2, are expected to go on as planned.
Spreckels is happy to exchange tickets for another date or refund if needed.
The decision to keep the theater dark on its third full weekend is especially hard given the reception the
show has received in the community.”
The Spreckels Box Office Box Office hours are Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 5pm and one hour before show time and can be reached at 707- 588-3400.
