The Mountain Play, currently on hiatus while it deals with the financial challenges being faced by many arts organizations today, announced today that it was cancelling its upcoming benefit concert due to “lower than expected funding and lackluster ticket sales”.
The concert, originally scheduled for June 15 and titled Tradition!, was to be “a tribute to 112 years of the Mountain Play, featuring your favorite actors from past productions.”
Ticket holders received the following email earlier this week:
Due to lower than expected funding and lackluster ticket sales, the Mountain Play has made the sad and very difficult decision to cancel Tradition!, our June 15, 2025 benefit.
This decision is the responsible one and in the best interest for the future of the Mountain Play.
Your support shown by your ticket purchase and contributions means the world to us. We can’t thank you enough.
Thank you for your purchase. Please reply to this email with your decision on how the funds for your purchase should be used.
1) Your payment can be converted to a much needed tax-deductible donation.
2) Your payment can be put towards tickets for our Musical Magic at the MAGC (Marin Art & Garden Center) event on August 17, 2025.
3) Refunds will be available upon request. A partial refund option is also available (part of your
payment refunded and part donation).
Theatres across the country are navigating this challenging new economy so we are not alone. We will survive because of the support from people like you. Thank you for believing in the power of the arts.
With gratitude,
Eileen Grady
Executive Director & Artistic Producer
